He began his career as a stage set director, and broke into films with the direction of short-reel western features such as "Toto of the Byways" (1916), "The Cactus Kid" (1921) and "Bandits Beware" (1921). As a performer, he appeared in the films "The Secret Gift" (1920), "Orphans of the Storm" (1921), "Breaking Home Ties" (1922), "When Strangers Meet" (1934) and "A Son Comes Home" (1936). He died of a heart attack at age 73 in Hollywood, California.
