U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Phillips University, in 1926, graduated from the law school of the University of Oklahoma, in 1929, was admitted to the bar and commenced the practice of law in Enid, Oklahoma. He was the deputy district court clerk of Garfield County, in 1928, special agent to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, (1934-38) and city attorney of Enid, (1939-42). During World War II, he served as a Colonel in Judge Advocate General’s Department, U.S. Army, in the South Atlantic Theater of Operations. After the war, he was elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-first Congress, serving (1949-51). An unsuccessful for reelection, he was director of Oklahoma State Crime Bureau in 1951, a Oklahoma State Superior Court judge, (1952-68), president of the Oklahoma Judicial Conference, 1968 and chief judge of Division No. 1, Judicial District No. 4, Oklahoma, in 1969.
