U.S. Congressman. Successful in the manufacture of cotton and linen goods, he was justice of the peace for Otsego County, clerk of Otsego County, (1852-55) and supervisor of Otsego County, (1865-66). In 1867, he was elected as a Republican to the Fortieth Congress, serving until 1869. After leaving Congress, he lived in retirement until his death at age 78.
