Artist. He was an American artist who was known for his paintings of various Southwest Native American children. Born Ettore "Ted" Degrazia in a mining town as the son of Italian immigrants, he became an impressionist, painter, sculptor, composer, actor, director, designer, architect, jeweler, and lithographer. From 1920 to 1925, his family lived in Italy. He attended the University of Arizona, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Art Education and a second degree in Fine Arts. In 1945 he earned his Master's degree in Art Education. In 1965, he opened the Gallery in the Sun in Tucson, Arizona, which eventually became a non-profit foundation. In 1982 the DeGrazia Foundation was established to ensure the continued operation of the Gallery. After his death from cancer, he was buried on the grounds of the Gallery, which include his studio, his house, and a museum housing his works. After his death, his estate commissioned Goebel of Germany to produce figurines from his paintings.
