U.S. Congressman. During the Revolutionary War, he served in the Maryland Militia and also was a member of the Maryland House of Delegates. In 1793, he was elected as an Anti-Administration candidate to the Third Congress, reelected as a Republican to the Fourth Congress, serving until 1797 and elected as a Republican to the Sixth Congress, serving (1799-1801). After his term, he was one of the commissioners of Havre de Grace Maryland, (1801-06) and appointed collector of the Port of Baltimore, serving until his death at age 51.
