Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He was a prisoner of war. He served as a Corporal in the Union Army in Company D, 5th New York Cavalry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on October 19, 1864 at Cedar Creek, Virginia. His citation reads "Recapture of the flag of the 15th New Jersey Infantry."
