John V. Alexander

John V. Alexander, of Boonsboro, died at the Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, on Monday evening at 8:45 o'clock of complications after an illness of one week. He was aged 74 years.

Mr. Alexander was the son of the late Franklin and Lydia Smith Alexander and was born near Middletown. For the past 43 years he had been cashier at the Boonsboro Bank. He was a member of the Reformed church in Boonsboro and was a past master of Antietam Lodge No. 197 of A. F. and A. M., past patron of Olive Branch Chapter, No. 34, Order of Eastern Star, and a member of Ithiel Chapter and St. Bernard Commandery of Hagerstown, Improved Order of Red Men, and Junior Order of United American Mechanics of Boonsboro.

He is survived by two daughters: Mrs. John Flook, Keedysville, and Mrs. Albertus Mullendore, Boonsboro; three sisters: Mrs. Catherine Kline, Mrs. Margaret Sterner, and Mrs. Cadville Young, all of Boonsboro; the following brothers: Charles and Leslie, Boonsboro; George and Lawson, Middletown; and Elmer, Oregon, Ill., and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the late home in Boonsboro on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Paul V. Helm officiating, assisted by Rev. Stuart C. Snodgrass. Interment will be made in the Boonsboro cemetery. William F. Bast and Son, funeral directors.
