Scottish Nobility. As queen consort she succeeded Ethelreda of Northumberland, wife of King Duncan II. According to historians, she was the first of six illegitimate children of Henry I of England, and on her mother's side, a descendant of the powerful house of the Earls of Cornwall. She became the wife (1107) of Alexander I MacMalcolm known as "the ferocious" of the House of Dunkelds. According to the historians and written records of that time, Sybilla (name inherited from her mother) was a woman with some physical and behavioral defects. However, she is remembered in the annals as the co-founder (1114) of the Abbey of Scone in the County of Perth, today known as an archaeological site of the late Middle Ages.
