Spencer Tyler Rudd was born in Renville County, Minnesota on August 12, 1892, parents unknown. He was raised as a foster child by Mrs. Anne Brevig. He graduated high school in 1911 and then attended college in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After college Mr. Rudd was employed as a secretary for Congressman Andrew J. Volstead of Minnesota for five years until he was drafted. He was a private in the United States Marine Corps, 172nd Company, 14th Regiment. In 1929 Mr. Rudd married the artist Mrs. Vernon Thomas. Mr. Rudd committed suicide in Lincoln Park, Chicago, Illinois on December 10, 1932.
