One of 13 Philadelphia firefighters who died in the horrendous Friedlander Leather Remnants factory fire on December 21st and 22nd, 1910. The walls of the factory collapsed on the firefighters. The fire remains the worst death toll in Philadelphia Fire Department history.

"BERTOLET – Suddenly, on December 22, 1910, Harry, husband of the late Catharine Bertolet (nee Mealy), in his 36th year. Relatives and friends, also Engine Co. No. 29, Philadelphia Fire Department Relief Association, Pension Fund, Insurance Patrols, James A. Garfield Club, of the 16th Ward, are invited to attend the funeral, on Monday, at 1 P. M., from his late residence, 1002 North Randolph St. Interment private at Northwood Cemetery."

His parents were born in Philadelphia, PA.
