Sgt. Justin A. Officer, 26, of Wichita, Kan., died Sept. 29 in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to 1st Squadron, 75th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky. Officer is survived by his father, Timothy A. Officer of Colorado Springs, Colorado and mother, Linda G. Officer. Justin is survived by his father, Timothy A. Officer, mother Stacy J. Officer, brother, Timothy A. Officer Jr., sister, Kylea R. Officer, grandmothers, Crystal Sanderson and Donna Fraley, Aunts, Cynthia Whiteside, Deloris Kendrick, Laureen Jodrey, Andrea Lazzara, Beverly Wing, Damaris Fraley, Uncles, Tim Brown, Jeff Brown, Donald Fraley and David Fraley. Justin was preceded in death by grandfathers, Timothy Officer, Gary Brown, Art Sanderson, Donald Fraley and grandmother, Helen Officer.
