He was admitted to the Houston Tuberculosis Hospital from which he never left. His daughter used to talk of visiting him there but not being allowed in because of her young age. He passed away when she was 13. Ruby gave her son, Jerry, her father's name as his middle name. Jerry's wife, Julie, wanted to give their son, Philip the middle name of Paul also. Though Paul Lee Kennedy may have lived a short life, his name has lived on in the family.
