Ruby married Jimmie Lee Jackson on March 9, 1953. They enjoyed 52 years together. After living in Humble for many years she and Jim moved to Kingsland Texas in 1978.
She was a lifelong church member at various churches depending on where she lived at the time. Her last church membership was Highland Lakes Baptist Church in Kingsland, Texas. Church and community activities were always close to her heart. She enjoyed her membership in the Preceptor Pi Alpha of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Kingsland.
Ruby was the daughter of Paul Lee Kennedy
and Myrtle Magdeline Marks Kennedy Glover. When Ruby was 10 years old her father was diagnosed with tuberculosis. He was subsequently hospitalized at the Houston Tuberculosis Hospital. She told of how they would go to visit him but she could not go inside. Because of her young age she was only allowed to stay outside and communicate as well as they could that way. He passed away from the disease when she was 13 years old, never having come home from the hospital.
Ruby and Jim had four children, Brenda Kay Jackson Lewis, who predeceaced them, Jerry, Sherry and Colleen.
Ruby had many lifelong friends who continued to support her during her difficult illness.
