As a young child I would ask my father about his mom and dad and where they came from. He talked about DeKalb, Illinois and the Rock River Valley. I would ask my mother also who had more information for me than my father. Off and on all my life until now I have learned little by little of my relatives and ancestors. I have always been interested in history, American history and how we all got to where we are now. Someone had to have a baby for me to be here now, and they before them and so on all the way back to when time began. My ancestry just fascinates me. I believe we are all related somehow,someway not too far away.

As I have been getting more involved in findagrave, finding people, and in our cemeteries, it is opening my eyes to how important it is to preserve these places and honor the people buried there. I am glad to be a part of a growing movement of people who are interested in our loved ones places of rest.
