In April of 2010, I was made aware of Find A Grave in conjunction with the genealogical research I had recently started. I had found my great-great grandmother's grave marker posted on another site, but not her husband's. I contacted one of the site admins, who posted a request on Find A Grave and, voila!, a volunteer went out to the cemetery and took a picture! Following that, I decided to do the same for others, and I signed up to be a photo volunteer.

Shortly thereafter, we visited that cemetery in Illinois where my great-great grandparents were buried. It's about four hours away, and made a fun day trip on Memorial Day! While in the area, we visited two other cemeteries where other relatives were buried.

Family names I am researching are: Manning, Gauger, Sensenich, Hedegger, and Jurk. Hedegger and Jurk are in Germany.

I enjoy fulfilling photo requests, and spend a lot of time trying to get good pictures. However, I don't fulfill photo requests that are put into the "Notes" section of someone else's memorial (that of a spouse, for example). My reason for this isn't because I want to "rack up numbers". It is because using that method to try to get photos not only circumvents Find-a-Grave rules, but makes more work for the photo volunteer, as well as increasing the chance your request will get missed. There needs to be a separate photo request submitted for each memorial for which you want a photo.
