AUSTINTOWN — Thelma C. Barker, 76, of Austintown, died at 4:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, at her home, surrounded by her loving family,
dear friend, Virginia, and her nurse, Linda.
Thelma was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother and friend.
She was born Sept. 8, 1931, in Stark, Ky., to Robert and Myrtle Waggoner Barker, and came to the Niles area in 1950.
A strong woman of faith and endurance, Thelma was a member of the Niles Christian Assembly and Dorcas Fellowship. She enjoyed flower gardening,
country music and Christian hymns.
She is survived by her husband, Beecher Barker, whom she married Nov. 13, 1948; daughter, Elaine (John) Westerfeld of Austintown;
grandson, David (Nicole) Packard of Austintown; three grandchildren, Branden, Noah and Nicholas Packard; and a brother, Dairl (Carla) Hanshaw of Niles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents who raised her, Charles and Hattie Roberts Waggoner; and a brother and two sisters.
Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, Niles. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Kerr Cemetery.
