Rachel Church, daughter of Aaron and Nancy Owens Church, had a son out of wedlock before marrying Isham Dancy in 1831. Alfred, the illegitimate son, was in fact the son of Richard Wheeler, who married Rachel's sister Catherine around the same time he and Rachel conceived Alfred. Rachel and Isham went on to have seven children and seemingly a respectable life.
