Kendall attended schools in Ryegate and Groton
He was stationed in Germany while serving with the U S Army during the Korean War.
Kendall was a self-employed dairy farmer with his brother Wilbur on the homestead farm in South Ryegate.
He married Shirley Dorothy Barnes on May 14, 1955 in South Ryegate, VT who preceded him in death on March 10, 2003. A few years later, they purchased their own dairy farm in Newbury, where he farmed for many years. When Kendell stopped farming, he went to work for Piper Construction in Bradford, VT in the home construction business and the P & H Truck Stop in Newbury.
He was a member and deacon of the First Congregational Church of Newbury and ross Wood Post 29 American Legion of Woodsville.
He is survived by sons Kendall Edgar Welch II of Newbury, VT and Martin Bartlett Welch of Woodsville, NH and daughters Winifred Mary Patten of Pike, NH and Alice Jane Welch and her partner Thomas Glass of Castleton, VT; eleven grandchildren, and several great grandchildren; sister Linnie Rush of Montgomery, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his parents; son Erwin Ira Welch on September 15, 1981, sister Alta Rush, three brothers Wilbur Welch and twins, Vernon and Virgil Welch.
Interment will be in the Groton Village Cemetery.
