Mrs. Marie L. (Hahn) Thompson, 94, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, Quincy, PA and formerly of 213 N. Potomac Street, Waynesboro, PA, died at 9:43 A.M. Monday, July 29, 2002 in the nursing home.
Born November 12, 1907 in Smithsburg, MD, she was the daughter of the late George C. and Carrie Belle (Ott) Hahn. She lived her early life in Smithsburg, moving to Waynesboro at the age of 16.
Mrs. Thompson attended the Smithsburg Schools.
She was first married to Roy A. Fuss who died February 1947. She then married Charles L. Thompson March 14, 1953. Mr. Thompson died April 7, 1971. She entered the Hoover House in Waynesboro in January 1992 and then entered Quincy Home September 8, 1997.
Mrs. Thompson was employed in her early life at the Waynesboro Knitting Mill as a folder and then prior to retiring in the mid 60's she was a polisher at the Waynesboro Shoe Factory.
She was a member of the Blue Mountain Church of God, the Ladies Bible Class and the Women Christian Service Council. In her later years, she attended the Wayne Heights Brethren Church.
She is survived by four sisters, Mildred Wilhide, Naomi Shifflette, twins Kathleen Minnick and Ilene Barkdoll all of Smithsburg, MD, two brothers, William Hahn, Smithsburg and Eugene Hahn, Waynesboro and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and two husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Hilda I. Beam and one brother, Norvin "Pete" Hahn.
Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Thursday, August 1, 2002 in the Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad Street, Waynesboro with the Rev. Dr. Harold W. Walton officiating.
Burial will be in the Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
Family will receive friends from 7 to 8 P.M. Wednesday in the funeral home.
