He was a well-known violinist and had played with several square dance groups in the area.

He left behind three daughters, Mrs. Carson Snyder of Hummels Wharf, Mrs. William Luck of Layton, Utah, Mrs. Oscar Felmey of Winfield RD1; three sons, Filbert of Indianapolis, IN, Donald of Newark, Ohio, and Dale of Hummels Wharf; 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Oberlin and Mrs. Marie Bingaman, both of Sunbury; and a brother, Elmer of New Berlin.
