Mr. Cowan was a retired farmer and also worked for the Montgomery County Surveyors Office. He was a member of New Hope Chapel, Mercer Lodge 633, past master and 50-year member, Indianapolis Scottish Rite and Alamo Order of the Eastern Star 498.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, Donald M. Cowan (wife Jean) of Waynetown and Steve Cowan of Crawfordsville; a daughter, Donna (Mrs. Richard) of Hillsboro; two sisters, Margaret Booher of Crawfordsville and Rebecca Harris of Bradenton, FL; seven grandchildren and some great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a brother, Walter Marion Cowan. Graveside services Sept. 21, Oakland Cemetery, Elmdale, the Revs. William Nickles and Robert Fields officiating.
