TRAIN HITS AUTO; 6 OHIOANS KILLED
WAUSEON - OHIO A speeding train slammed into an auto Monday, killing a 29 year old mother and five of her children.
The victims were Barbara Ann Foxe, 29, of Holgate and her children, Scott, 8; Shane, 5; Shannon, 3; Tammy, 2, and Earl Jr., 7 months. A sixth child, Andrew, 8, was in school when the Penn Central passenger train plowed into the car at a Fulton County crossing 1 1/2 miles west of Pettisville. There were no injuries on the train.
The husband and father, Earl Foxe, was working nearby with a telephone company crew. He and others with him saw the accident and rushed to the scene.
Mrs. Foxe was believed en route to meet her husband. The train struck the auto's rear end and hurled the vehicle down the tracks about a mile. The car then burst into flames. The train engineer, R. G. Bowman, said the eastbound train was traveling about 80 miles an hour. Bowman said the car started across the tracks without stopping.
