Civil War Veteran Was Connected With Several Organizations.
Funeral services for Richard M. J, Reed, of 2332 Huntingdon street, will be held this afternoon. Interment will be made at Mt. Peace Cemetery. Rev. George Kunz, pastor of the Church of the Brethren, and Rev. Samuel Nichols, pastor of the Primitive Methodist Church, will officiate.
Mr. Reed was discharged with the rank of lieutenant-colonel at the end of the Civil War. He served for a number of years as a major in the Third Regiment here. For many years he was a prominent figure in Twenty-eighth ward politics. Mr. Reed was a member of he G. A. R.: Sons of Veterans, P. O. S. of A., and the Knights Hospitalers."
