Born in Jerusalem to a Maltese couple, Father Carmelo Anton Attard entered the Minor Seminary at the age of 13, and was ordained to the priesthood on December 12, 1890. Appointed Seminary Professor, Attard was assigned as vicar of Salt Janvier and curate of Jaffa de Galilée in 1895. Two years later he was appointed curate of Zababdeh. Appointed curate of Jifneh in 1901 and later of Ramallah in 1909, the parish church was built during his tenure. Named first parish priest of Rameh in 1914, he passed unexpectedly away at the Patriarchate in Jerusalem two days short of his 53rd birthday.
