Mr. Nix was a native of Murray, Ky., and for many years was a real estate broker in Kentucky cities. He had been a resident of the East Palata area for the past year.
Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Anne Long Nix, of East Palatka; son, James Earl Nix and two grandchildren, Mrs. Mary Ann Laycock and Miss Pauline Nix, of Oak Park, Ill.; five sisters, Mrs. W. O. (Leona Jane) Jones, Memphis, Tenn; Mrs. Herman (Eulalia) Graham and Mrs. Maie Ligon, Padukah, Ky.; Mrs. George Fleming, of Coffeeville, Kan.; and Mrs. W. A. (Nellie) Ramsey, Neosha, Mo.
Funeral services were held Tueday afternoon at the Davis Chapel, with Rev. D. C. Woolley, of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment was in Oak Hill East Cemetery, with W. Carl Davis and Son in charge. (Palatka Times-Herald Obituary dtd Friday, 26 Sep 1947.)
