Mr. Roy Dale Collins, 68 of Mt. Airy passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012 at his home. He was born in Surry County on October 30, 1944 to the late Jesse Willard Collins and Lillie Gray Boyd Collins Jones. Mr. Collins was retired from the VA Hospital in Tampa, FL. He served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. He is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Jesse Roy Dale Collins II and Nevada of Fort Detrick, MD, Christopher Chad Collins of Tampa, FL; six grandchildren, Kalya Hawks, Shane Edwards both of Mt. Airy, Jesse Collins, Isabella Collins both of MD, Hailey Nicole Collins of Mt. Airy, Skyler Daniels of Robbinsville; a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Ronald Beamer of Mt. Airy; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Duke Collins, Roger and Jane Collins, David and Ronda Collins all of Mt. Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Jane Williams Collins. A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 9, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Skyline Memory Gardens at a later date. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:00 Noon until time of the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. The family would like to thank Don and Verona Wright and Tracy Collins, also Wendy, Tabitha, and all the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for their love and care given to their father during his illness.
