James McCarter was already married Rebecca by 1803 as indicated by the will of her father, William Ogle. Rebecca was willed "a cow and calf, bed and furniture, pot and some other furniture. Also I give unto my beloved grandson William McCarter a young sow."
James McCarter and Rebecca McCarter came from Edgefield District, South Carolina abt 1804 to settle the Cartertown section and owned it at one time. They did not take part in the settlement of White Oak Flats.
