Han C. Needham, son of Henry and Letha Mae (Cowan) Needham, was born on July 24, 1918 at Eufala, Oklahoma. He died at the age of 69 at Lakeville, Minnesota on Sunday, November 8, 1987.
Han was raised in Oklahoma and attended school there. He came to Minnesota and was married to Elaine Romsdahl on November 14, 1940 at Estherville, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army in Africa and Italy in World War II. They farmed near St. James, Madelia and LaSalle until 1963 when they moved to Bloomington, Minnesota where he worked in quality control for Control Data Corporation. They moved back to rural St. James in 1976. He was an active member of Kansas Lake Lutheran Church, serving on the church council. He was also a member of the V.F.W. in St. James. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, rock hunting and carpentry.
He is survived by his wife Elaine, sons, Ron of Prescott, Arizona, Michael and Bobbie of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin and Phillip and Andrea of The Dalles, Oregon, daughters, Judy Lindblad and Phil Kowal of Eden Prairie, Nanette and Michael Northrup of Lakeville and Gwen and Bob Brown of Excelsior, Minnesota, 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He is also survived by his twin brother, Shan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, sisters Jewell Mitchell, Peggy Dykes and Edith Duvall all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Beatrice Harvey of Houston, Texas. Foster sisters, Fredith Crouse, Mary Shrewsbury, Ella Mae Schultz, Frances Wilson and Edith Lundy all of Enid, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, two
brothers and 7 half brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 1987 at 11:00 A.M. at the Kansas Lake Lutheran Church in rural St. James with Rev. Janet Hartsook and Rev. Philip Gotsch officiating. Organist was Viola Sandberg and vocalist was Gary Wolner. Pallbearers were Warren Romsdahl, Scott Umhoefer, Gregory Romsdahl, Brian Romsdahl, Paul Hanson and Bradley Romsdahl. Burial was in the church cemetery.
