Youngest of four children, she was the daughter of Thomas and Louise Leonard Farrey. She was a graduate of Ascension High School and Anna Maria College, with a Master's degree from Worcester State College.
After a 38 year teaching career, she retired one and half years ago from West Street Elementary School in Southbridge, where she'd taught reading for the last 35 years.
She was a longtime member of the former Ascension Church and was a member of St. John's Church.
