Sophia Gough (Carroll) Sargent was the daughter of James MacCubbin and Achsah (Ridgely) Carroll, Jr. She was the wife of Rev. Dr. Thomas Bartow Sargent. They were married April 12, 1832. Rev. Dr. Sargent was a minister in the Philadelphia Conference/ Baltimore Conference and Baltimore Conference South Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church. He died August 14, 1879.
