During the War of 1812-1814, from Aug. 29, 1814 to Jan 4, 1815, David C. Claypoole Jr. served (with his cousin James T. Claypoole) as a Private, under company commander Captain Thomas F. Pleasants, in the 1st. Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteers, commanded by Colonel Clement C. Biddle. (Pennsylvania Archives, Series 6. Volume: VIII.
