Fr. Anton Kollar was born to Matthew Andrew Kollar and Anna (Gromoko) Kollar in Braddock, Pennsylvania. He professed simple vows to the Carmelites in the PCM Province on August 15, 1945. He attended Mount Carmel College in Niagara Falls, Ontario, earning a bachelors degree in philosophy. He then attended the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. In formation with the Carmelite Community at Whitefriars Hall in Washington, DC. Brother Anton made his solemn profession with the Carmelites on September 26, 1948. Finishing his theological studies at Whitefriars Hall, he was ordained a priest on June 9 1951. He studied psychology from the United States International University in San diego Califorinia. and Marriage counseling from La Verne College in San Diego, California as well.

In 1959 he joined the United States Navy serving as a Military Chaplain for 26 years. He was discharged in 1985 at the rank of Commander. He served as hospital chaplain at the Veterans Administration Hospital. In 1995 retired in San Diego California.
