Gladys Matilda Maney, daughter of James Fay Maney and Vivian Gray Jones Maney, 1954 married her high school sweetheart, Edgar Powell "Ed" Israel.

Matilda grew up in Horse Shoe, Henderson County, North Carolina.

Matilda was survived by her husband, Edgar Powell "Ed" Israel, two children; John Michael Israel and Sherri Lynn Israel Scott, (David); one sister, Margaret Faye Maney Spratt, (Clarence), and one brother, James Frederick Maney, (Suzanne), two grandchildren; Spencer Scott and Zander Scott.

Matilda and Edgar's son John Michael Israel, died unexpectedly from a heart attack, born August 12, 1965, Waynesville, Haywood County, North Carolina, died, January 8, 2016, Atlanta, Georgia.
He graduated from Brevard High School in 1983, he attended North Carolina State University, and graduated from Western Carolina University. He went back and earned his Law degree from John Marshall Law in 1998. He opened his own Law Firm and practiced Criminal law in Atlanta for 17 years.
He is survived by his Sister and her husband, two Nephews, Uncle and Aunt, and many friends.
