Born on 05/16/1844 in St-Edouard, Napierville, Queb. Prov, Canada to parents Toussaint Martin and Suzanne Leriger LaPlante. Married Philomene (nee Isabelle)on 02/02/1863 at St-Michel-de-Archange-de-Napierville, Queb Prov, Canada. By 1864, moved to Columbus, Franklin Co., OH(1864) then Toledo, Lucas Co., OH(1866), where first two children were born: #1-Toussaint (1864-1921)and #2-Philomena (1866-1919).
Then, between 1868 and 1874 the family moved several times between Negaunee, Marquette Co, MI and St-Michel-de Archange-de-Napierville, Quebec Prov where five more children were born, including the 3rd child, a non-surviving daughter,(Marie)Rose Martin, born and died in 1868 in St-Michel-de-Archange-de-Napierville, Quebec Prov., Canada. She survived only 20 days. (#4-Mary Evelin(1869-1947; #5 Marie Adrienne (1871-1890); #6 Agnes Lillian (1873-1955); #7 Joseph J (1874-1945) Finally, the family moved on to Green Bay WI where the 8th child, Mathilda(1876-1877) was born and finally, to Delta Co., MI for last five children's births: #9 John B. (1880-1890); #10 Victoria (1881-1966); #11 Rose (1883-1926); #12 Henry J (1885-1928); and #13 Edward (1889-1889).The family totalled 13 children...9 of these children survived to adulthood. Joseph (widowed) died from complications of(myocarditis)in 1927.
