Civil War Veteran with the 23rd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. Mustered into U.S. Service on August 3rd 1861. He was promoted from Private to Corporal after the Battle of Fair Oaks and then to Sgt., on June of 1863 just before he fought at Gettysburg. He later got ill and was in a hospital at the time of his Muster out on September 8th 1864.

He lived at 27 Silverwood Street in Manayunk,PA at the time of his death.

He is buried in an unmarked plot about 12 feet to the right of the Stone that reads "Baxter". Someone from the office can assist you in marking the exact location.
