Emil was born to Augusta and Emil Alexander Kuonen on March 26th 1922. He was the youngest of 10 children. The family lived in Peone Prairie, WA. During high School pa boxed and played football all with out his parents knowing. His father was very against sports so he walked a good 5 miles to school, back home to do his chores and then back to school to play. He usually got a ride for the walk home. At his 50year high school reunion (grandpa did not make it past the 9th grade) his classmates still remembered him wiping his glove over his nose to intimidate his opponent. After moving to Seattle to work for Boeing, Grandpa joined the Navy in 1941 at the age of 17. He served for 4 years and was on many different ships from carriers to a tanker. 2 of which where bombed while he was on them. He made it out alive with only schrap metal in his leg.. After being discharged he moved back home where he meet Beatrice Rose McConahy. The grew up not more then 2 miles from each other and did not know of the others existence until after the war. They where married on April 6, 1947. and Remarried on April 6, 1997 for their 50th wedding anniversary. (they made it 57 years) They had 3 children, 7 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. Emil worked many different jobs and spent the remainder of his time farming, he loved his cows and all animals his cows would actually followed him around like dogs. He is missed by all who knew him. This was a very special man who's blue eyes sparkled every time he looked at his family!! He was truly proud of each and everyone of his "kids"
