Dean Thurman Burgess, 80, of 1050 Shady Grove Church Rd., Staley, died Friday, September 23, 2011 at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.

Funeral Services, 3 PM, Sunday, September 25, 2011, Shady Grove Baptist Church, Staley.

Officiating, Rev. Michael Horton, Rev. Talmadge Williams.

Entombment will follow in the church cemetery

He was a native of Shawnee, Oklahoma, retired from Freeman Ford in Liberty, a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, and a U. S. Air Force Veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Thurman and Ollie Williams Burgess, brothers, Paul Burgess, Clyde Burgess, James Burgess, sisters, Ruth Novack, Lois Caudle.

Survivors: wife, Clara Edwards Burgess, of the home, sons, Phillip Merrell Burgess, Eddie Dean Burgess, and wife, Faye, all of Staley, grandchild, Jeffrey Burgess, and wife, Jill, of Staley, three step-granddaughters, eight step-great grandchildren.

Visitation, 6 PM to 8 PM, Saturday, Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur and other times at the residence.

Arrangements by Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur.
