M. A. Frawley, the well-known real estate and insurance man, residing at 1203 N. Sixth street, passed away this morning, succumbing to a long illness.

Mr. Frawley was fifty years of age, being born in this city, October 20, 1857. He obtined his education in the parochial and public schools of this city and began his business career as a cash boy with Greenbaum & Schroeder, at the age of fourteen years. He left there shortly after to learn the trade of pressman with Osborn, Snow & Company, and remained with them and their successors until 1872, when he went to work for J. J. Heider, the then leading Insurance agent of the city. After eight years of service with Mr. Heider, he became city agent for the Burlington Insurance Co. and was later promoted to special agent on the road. In 1891 Mr. Frawley left the service of the Burlington Insurance Co., establishing himself as agency for a number of prominent insurance concerns and was recognized as one of the best insurance men in the state. Whatever success he achieved in business was the result of his untiring progressivness [sic] and he was always in the forefront in any enterprise that would help Burlington. He took a pride in Burlington and never tired of proclaiming its merits.

He was a kind husband and father and delighted in the companionship of his fine family, where his loss will be keenly felt. He is survived by his widow, three sons and one daughter, J. J. Frawley, W. C. Frawley, Paul Frawley and Mary Frawley. The announcement of the funeral will be made later.
