John, 78, of Charlotte, died Friday, January 4, 2013. He was the son of John Frederick and Letia Day (Clevers) Myers.

John worked 32 years for Aluminum Extrusions before retiring in 1989. Following his retirement, he stayed very active playing B!NGO in Charlotte. He also delivered papers for the Shopping Guide, served on the Civil Defense Unit, and was a member of the local VFW, American Legion, Senior Center and Eagle Club Aerie 3552. John also loved his time in the outdoors, CB Radio, and time spent with his family.

John is survived by his wife of 39 years, Mary Jane; children Keven (Lisa) Myers, August Mellios, Letia Clark, John Myers III, Jacalyn (Jason) Egan, Marshall (April) Myers, Terri (Ernie) Biem, Leroy McKelvey, Patricia (Jeff) Bruce and Paul (Tammy) Eggleston; and many grandchildren and great-granchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Michael Brandon, his eight siblings and his loving parents.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte with Rev. Chuck Jenson officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Palliative Care and American Legion Post 42.
