Screenwriter, Producer. Best known for co-writing the Academy Award nominated film "The China Syndrome" (1979). Born Thomas Stephen Cook in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of a businessman, he attained his Bachelor of Arts degree at Denison University and later studied at the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop. Cook initiated his writing career in television while in his late teens during the mid 1970s penning scripts for episodes of the series "Baretta" and "The Paper Chase", prior to making an impact in the industry with his contributions for the motion picture the "China Syndrome" for which starred Jack Lemmon, Jane Fonda and Michael Douglas. He went onto have a string of successful TV-movie credits with "The Switch" (1993), "Texas Justice" (1995) and "The Tuskegee Airmen" (1995), for which he co-shared an Emmy Award nomination.
