Pfc. U.S. Marine Corps, {MC2232491}, Vietnam War-Pfc. Butler was killed in action by small arms fire on 5-17-1967 while serving as an AntiTank Assaultman {0351} with Co. F of the 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division.

He is the son of Mr. Calvin W. & Mrs. Beulah A. Butler of R.R. #1, Coles County, Humbolt, Illinois, and is a 1964 graduate of Mattoon H.S. in Mattoon, Illinois, and he enlisted with the Marines in Chicago, Illinois on 2-21-1966.

Awards: Purple Heart Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal with One Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal.
