CAROL LIGHTMAN, beloved wife of Richard Lightman, died in the early morning of September 28 after a long illness. She was 84. Born in Birmingham Alabama, Carol Sacks graduated from Beaver College in 1945. She married Joe Levy and lived in Memphis for six years, during which she taught dance lessons with Jeanne Lightman. In 1954, Carol moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas, where she became owner and manager of Eleanor Harris clothing store. She was an accomplished and independent businessperson. In late 1999, she married Richard Lightman and moved back to Memphis. Carol is remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, a person of exceptional gentleness, genuine and kind. She leaves behind her husband, Richard, a son Woody, grandchildren, Joe and Amelia, stepchildren, Alan, John, Ronnie, and David, and step-grandchildren, Erin, Zachary, Taylor, Jacob, Anna, Elyse, and Kara. There will be a memorial service at the Levy Cooper Chapel of Temple Israel Cemetery, 1708 Hernando Road, at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 1.
