Louis Henry Brave, life long resident of Edwardsville Township died at 4 o'clock this morning at his residence at 140 Columbia avenue, after an illness of several months due to a malignant growth.
For about five months Mr. Brave had been gradually failing his condition becoming critical about two months ago when he became bedfast.
Plans have been arranged to hold the funeral services Sunday. Brief services will first be held at the residence on Columbia avenue thence to the Eden Evangelical Church where the principal services will be conducted at 2 o'clock. Services will be in charge of Rev. Hugo J. Bredehoeft, pastor of the church. Interment will be made in the Woodlawn Cemetery on St. Louis street.
Mr. Brave was born upon a farm in this township on March 29, 1861 the only son of the late Ernst [Marie Stunkel] Brave and had attained an age of slightly less than 67 years.
Practically his entire life was devoted to farming. For 62 years he resided upon the same farm about four miles west of Edwardsville, retiring to live here in December of 1922.
On November 15, 1883, he was united in marriage with Miss Maria Scherf. The union was blessed with ten children, two of whom, Carl and Anna, died in infancy. Those surviving are Mrs. F.G. Schaefer, William and Edward Brave and Mrs. William E. Bardelmeier, all of Edwardsville, Louis Brave, Mrs. Ed Schoenebaum and Albert Brave, all of Wood River, and Mrs. H.C. Bartels of Granite City. His widow and 16 grandchildren also survive.
