She and husband, Josiah, were the parents of Gov. Malcolm Rice Patterson

In addition to Gov. Malcolm Rice "Ham" Patterson, they had two daughters: Mary Louise ("Louise")Patterson (Mrs. Edward B. LeMasters), born in Florence, Al, on Oct. 14, 1864; and Ann Eliza "Ann" Patterson (wife to Dr. Sterling J. Foster), born Dec. 2, 1866, died Oct. 7, 1944. Dr. Foster was a prominent Presbyterian minister in Memphis and Birmingham. Ann and Sterling had 3 children, Josephine (wife of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black)& civil rights activist, Virginia (Mrs. Clifton Durr) who wrote a book,Outside the Magic Circle, and Sterling Foster, Jr.
