Bobby Ralph Ervin, 68, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 23, 2009 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Born in Scott County, VA on August 5, 1940. He was of the Pentecostal faith and attended Faith Bible Tabernacle Church. He enjoyed singing in church and fellowship with his church family. Everybody at church called him their candy man.

He worked at Scott County Lumber Company for 16 years.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Monnie Musick Ervin and father, James Wrightly Ervin; step mother, Fannie Ervin; sister, Ruth Qualls; brothers, Dan Ervin and Howard Ervin.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2009 in the Gene Falin Memorial Church with Rev. Mark Sexton and Rev. Eugene Sexton officiating. Music will be provided by Mark, Eugene, Worley and Jean Sexton.

Burial will follow the service at Ervin Cemetery.
