Julia Agnes Korschgen, 94, Houston, Tex., formerly of Lewis County, died Sunday, July 18, 2004, in her home. She was born July 22, 1909, in rural Lewis County, Mo., a daughter of William and Lena Pulcher Raleigh. She married Henry "Dick" Shuman, September 6, 1934. She married Clifford Korschgen, April 11, 1944, in St. Patricks Church in Burlington, Ia. Mrs. Korschgen was a registered nurse and graduated from Mercy Hospital in Burlington. She worked in public health from 1951 to 1954 in Lewis and Butler Counties. Her last 20 years of nursing were spent at the Adams County Health Department, retiring from there in 1974. She was a member of St. Francis Ladies, Quliters and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and made Cursillo in Quincy in 1975. The challenges of being a single parent were tempered by her sense of humor and unfailing devotion to her catholic faith. She is survived by two daughters and their partners, Carolyn Joan Korschgen Heinz and Phillip, Houston, Tex., and Joyce Korschgen and Robin Rudd, Portland, Ore.; four grandchildren, Heidi Heinz and her partner Enrique Parrilla, Dennis Heinz, Jerry Heinz and Tony Heinz and his partner, Diane; and two great grandchildren, Ardan Philip Heinz and Lola Alexandra Parrilla Heinz. She was preceded in death by her husbands, eight brothers, John, Augustus, Julian, Eugene, Lewis, Pat, Emile, and Redmond. Visitation was July 21, 2004, with a parish prayer service. Funeral services were on her 95th birthday, Thursday, July 22, 2004, at the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home and at St. Francis Catholic Church. Burial was in St. Patricks Cemetery in St. Patrick, Mo. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Church or St. Patrick Cemetery Fund.
