Kendon Otto Anderson died peacefully in his home on February 2, 2013. Kendon was born on September 24, 1922 in Elsinore, Utah to Otto Frederick Anderson and Vera Bell Christensen. He graduated from Richfield High School and attended Utah State Agricultural College in 1943. He married his sweetheart Karma Larsen in the Manti Utah Temple on May 28, 1943.

They started their married life together in a small apartment in Salt Lake, Utah and then moved to Layton. Kendon was employed as a civilian at Hill Air force Base in Ogden and then in 1952, he moved his small family to Hereford, Texas to farm with Karma's father Dan Larsen. Farming was Kendon's passion and if it were possible, he would have farmed his entire life. While in Texas, he served as Branch President and High Councilman. In 1976 the family returned to Utah where they found a home in Salem. He worked at the Utah State Hospital as lead maintenance worker and remained until retirement. In Salem Kendon and Karma were surrounded by wonderful friends and ward members who lovingly cared for Kendon after Karma passed away January, 2001. He continued as a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in several callings.

Kendon (Grandpa) will be remembered for his camping and fishing trips with grandma and his family; taking his grandkids on walks through the "enchanted forest" at Miller's Flat; loading his wood trailer to stock his wood-burning stove through the winter; producing an immaculate vegetable garden with the best tomatoes in the county; building wooden toys and crafts which grandma and the grandchildren loved to paint; stocking his cookie jar with lemon cookies and a basket with Hershey Chocolate Nuggets for the grandkids; and being with his family at their extended reunions at Gooseberry.

Kendon was preceded in death by his loving wife, Karma Larsen Anderson; his siblings Maureen Bulich, Harding, Sterling, Robert, James, and Gordon Anderson; his son Daniel; and his grandsons Matthew, Seth, and Nikolas Anderson.

Kendon is survived by his oldest sister Velma Christensen; children Terry (Chris) Ottosen, Carolyn (Lynn) Hoskins, Dan (deceased) (Darla), Fred (Jalane), Becky (Rick) Lee, Paul (Vicky), Steve (Teri), Tim (Tina); 51 grandchildren; and 78 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

We would like to thank Horizon Home Health and Hospice, and a special thanks to Natalie Young, for their love and special care.

There will be viewings at the Walker Mortuary, 187 South Main, Spanish Fork, on Friday evening, February 8, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, February 9, 2013 from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the Apple Blossom Chapel (25 West Apple Blossom Way) in Salem. The funeral will follow the viewing at 11 a.m. Interment will be at the Monroe City Cemetery following the funeral at approximately 3 p.m.
