In May, 1867, my two-year-old brother, Ernest, was accidentally scalded. He lingered a week, then death claimed the youngest of the flock.

SAD ACCIDENT.--We regret to learn that a little child of Rev. Pardee Butler, of this county, met with a sad accident last week. The child, about a year and a half old, was playing about the house, when, in some way, it fell into a tub of boiling hot water. The little one was taken out nearly dead and horribly scalded. It lingered on, enduring great suffering, until Sunday evening, when death put an end to its miseries. The bereaved parents have the sympathy of the entire community.--Atchison Champion
