Inventor. He is best known for his patents on the intermittent windshield wipers found on most vehicles. He had a prolonged legal battle with the Ford Motor Company, and achieved a settlement with the Chrysler Motor Corporation after his attempts to defend his patents. His story was told in the 2008 motion picture "Flash of Genius".
