SYLWESTRZAK, Stanislawa, age 96 of Royal Oak, died February 13, 2013, at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. Stanislawa was born March 7, 1916, in Poland, near Warsaw, to Maria and Wladislaw "Walter" Szymanski.
While in Poland, she taught catechism to children preparing for First Holy Communion and also worked as a seamstress.
During World War II, Stanislawa lived for a while in a German Refuge Camp where she married Stanislaw Sylwestrzak in 1946. Together they had four children. Their first born son, Christopher, died before he was a year old. In January 1952, Stanislawa began her life in the United States with her entire family, husband, children, mother, father, brother and sisters.
Stanislawa was a parishioner at St. Florian in Hamtramck for three years before moving to Detroit in 1955 and joining St. Louis the King Parish where she has been a parishioner for 58 years. She was a very religious person and would say her rosary every night. Stanislawa made sure all her children received a good Catholic education. She would also pray for anyone that needed prayers, often having a litany of names.
Stanislawa loved Arby's and going out to eat at a restaurant after church on Sundays. She also enjoyed Friday night wrestling, especially with her favorite wrestler, "The Rock".
Stanislawa was a stay at home mom. She also loved to garden, canning many of the vegetables she grew. She also loved parties and family get-togethers, getting up at the crack of dawn to cook for the party.
Stanislawa loved hugs and kisses, especially from the little ones. She was a dear wife, mother & Babcia and will be greatly missed.
Stanislawa is survived by her children Agnes (Ronald) Dwyer, Ernie (Alina) Sylwestrzak, and Rose (Michael) Strohauer-Rabior, and grandchildren, Ronald Dwyer, Jr., Kathryn (David) Schaefer, Paul (Kate) Dwyer, David (Shelley) Dwyer, Daniel (Jessica) Strohauer, Maria Sylwestrzak, Zakary Rabior, and Sara Rabior. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Jacqulyn Schaefer, Katelyn Schaefer, Gwendolyn Schaefer, Madalyn Schaefer, Skylar Newland, and Abigail Dwyer, sister-in-law Teresa Szymanski and several nieces and nephews. Stanislawa is preceded in death by her beloved husband Stanislaw Sylwestrzak, son Christopher Sylwestrzak and siblings, Antek Symanski, Stefan Szymanski, Genowefa Szymanska, Zosia (Josef) Przyluska, Janina Szymanska, Jadwiga (Stanislaw) Adamkiewicz, and Wlodzimiez "Walter" Szymanski.
